March Book Club

The two books for March are: Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. This is a great choice for those of you who enjoyed other works by Terry, especially Good Omens! The second book is Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson. It follows an American student who is starting school in London. Unfortunately, she arrives the same day as a series of murders that copy the Jack the Ripper murders from 1888! Here is a bonus, the author Maureen Johnson on a Jack the Ripper walking tour, pointing out the site of murders and the building where you can see Rory's window.

February Book Club

Due to January's meeting being so late in the month and the start of testing, Febraury's book club meeting will be on Thursday, February 13th, in the IMC during CAP.  Yearbook pictures are coming up next Tuesday, February 11th.  Bring a book to hold during our picture and be sure to listen to the announcements for Book Club to be called down!

What is on your fiction bucket list?

When you have two days off from school and it is too cold to go outside, you can spend a lot of time surfing the net. This week I found the fiction bucket list idea. If you could hang out with one of your favorite fictional characters, who would it be and what would the two of you do? Here are some of the ones I found on line.

 

 

 

What would be on your fiction bucket list?  Book club was moved to Thursday January 23rd due to CAP lessons and finals, but that gives you extra time to work on your list to bring and share!

 

 

 

January Book Club picks!

Thinking about a book for over break? Here are the two books for book club for January. We will meet the second Thursday, January 9th, rather than try to get a meeting in the first day back to school. The first book is Dodger by Terry Pratchett. Some of you read Good Omens by Pratchett and have raved about it, and some of you saw Oliver with the Artful Dodger here at school, this book blends the two. Here is a book trailer!

The second book is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Cinderella and a cyborg mechanic, how do you meld those two ideas together? Check out Cinder and find out!

It's not too early to start thinking about scholarships!

I want to suggest you take a look at this video of a student who was able to win enough scholarship money to pay for her college degree and even to go on to getting her doctorate. How I earned $500K in scholarships. I have ordered the books that she mentions and they will be in the IMC soon. Look to the IMC page for links to other resources.

November Book Club

Due to WCKE testing, November Book Club will be pushed back to Thursday November 14 during CAP in the IMC. In the extra week, you may want to consider these books!
